The day was finally here, my debut appearance, I needed to make a statement, to be seen. The lights were on full voltage and the cameras already clicking all that was left was for me to walk the runway…..
After the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design week came the anticipated GTBank fashion weekend. After seeing highlights of the previous one held last year I knew I had to make it to this years event and I’m glad I didn’t miss it. From the entrance we were handed the GTB branded hand fans even though the arena was pretty ventilated. The turnout was beautiful, much better than the LFDW and in my opinion a much better show.
I must commend the GTB team for a very beautiful and mind blowing event from the decor, to organization, to the designers. The master class sessions were also very educative and relevant to the fashion industry in Nigeria. However, I had just one complaint, the runway show started late and a lot of time was wasted during intervals. Asides that the runway was a good one and the visuals were were extra!
Dress – New Look night dress (Thrifted)
Fishnets – Thrifted
Cutout boots – New look (Thrifted)
Bag – Isabelle
Choker – DIY
Cuffs – Bought from a friend.
This was hands down my best part of the show. The designers didn’t come to play. From the introduction, to the outfits, to the models everything was done to perfection. I loved how each designer had a theme e.g Taibo Bacar had a sexy minimalist thing going on with majorly nude shades, Ituen Basi did well to show a risqué collection while Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi was all about the classy woman who is also bold, edgy and colorful.
At the end of the day there was fireworks and trust me when I say it was lit!!! Overall I had a wonderful experience even though I went for only day 1.
I hope you enjoyed this post, do have a wonderful weekend sand stay blessed!
